About - John Stoddart
John Stoddart

"Titillating, provocative, controversial and, most importantly, sexy - Stoddart is a legend”
James Mullinger, GQ magazine

John Stoddart, one of the UK’s foremost photographers, offers a distinctive portrayal of glamour, fame and desire in his work.

After a stint as an army photographer, John Stoddart made his name photographing artists such as Frankie goes to Hollywood and Echo & the Bunnymen and creating evocative portraits of legends such as Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton and Keith Richards.

Expanding his work beyond the music world, Stoddart moved on to create "heavy-weight portraits" of Pierce Brosnan, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Jeremy Irons and playful and sensuous photos of young, then relatively unknown actresses such as Elizabeth Hurley and Catherine Zeta-Jones, as well as portraits of up-and-comers Jude Law and Sienna Miller, among others.

His latest book, “Peep World” represents a fascinating portfolio of challenging and provocative images. The images were selected to show Stoddart’s skill as a storyteller and his desire as a photographer to look beyond the veneer of beauty, power and wealth.

For over a decade Stoddart has contributed his portraits to numerous international magazines, including GQ, Rolling Stone and Vanity Fair.
