Rock Hudson (1925-1985), born Leroy Harold Scherer, was a popular American film and television actor, noted for his splendid, virile looks and 6’4” height. He is most remembered as a romantic leading man during the1950s and 1960s.

He was one of the most popular and well-known movie stars of the time. He completed nearly 70 motion pictures and starred in several television productions during a career that spanned more than three decades.
Success and recognition came in 1954 with Magnificent Obsession. His popularity soared in George Stevens's Giant (1956), co-starring Elizabeth Taylor and James Dean. As a result of their powerful performances, both Rock Hudson and James Dean were nominated for Best Actor at the Oscars.
Other films include Something of Value, A Farewell to Arms and Pillow Talk, one of many romantic comedies in which he co-starred with Doris Day.
He starred in the popular television series McMillan and Wife (1971-1977).

Rock Hudson has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6104 Hollywood Boulevard.
